Count passengers and convert luggage sizes

Count every adult, child and infant. SSGO uses a 24-inch suitcase as one standard luggage unit; each suitcase larger than 24 inches counts as 1.5 units. Two 24-inch cases plus two 28-inch cases therefore count as five units. This is a planning reference: tell us separately about pushchairs, wheelchairs, skis and child seats.

Compare the Alphard and two Hiace layouts

A seven-seat Alphard or equivalent includes the driver’s seat and carries up to six passengers, usually around four 24-inch cases, with a maximum reference of around six. A ten-seat Hiace or equivalent carries up to nine passengers, usually around nine cases, with a maximum reference of around ten. A fourteen-seat Hiace or equivalent carries up to thirteen passengers but has less luggage space: it normally suits small amounts of hand luggage, with a maximum reference of around four 24-inch cases. Full passenger loads combined with maximum luggage reduce comfort.

What about four people with four large suitcases?

If all four cases are larger than 24 inches, assess them as six standard units, not four. An Alphard’s maximum reference may cover this combination, but it is near the luggage limit. Check actual dimensions, other belongings and seating needs. For more space, compare a ten-seat Hiace if offered on that product. This is a planning example, not a customer case study or a guarantee that the luggage will fit.
